Why does Aarthi Scans & Labs offer services at low prices?

At Aarthi Scans and Labs, we strongly believe that the cost of diagnosing a disease should never push a patient into financial hardship or make their treatment unaffordable. Unfortunately, the high cost of diagnostic services across the country often leads to delayed diagnoses, unaffordable tests, and limited access to advanced facilities leaving millions vulnerable.

Our vision is simple yet powerful; no one should suffer because a diagnosis is out of reach. To make this a reality, we have consistently kept our pricing 50–60% lower than the industry average, especially for essential services like MRI, CT, and blood tests. We also provide reduced pricing during night hours, further easing access for patients.

Over the last 36 years, it has been the trust of our patients, their word of mouth, and our unwavering commitment to delivering advanced, compassionate diagnostics that have helped us scale and sustain this model. By combining exceptional diagnostic capabilities with affordability, we continue to fight for a healthcare system where early, accurate diagnosis is accessible to all.

How does Aarthi Scans and Labs offer Services at a lower cost?

At Aarthi Scans and Labs, affordability is at the heart of our vision:“The cost to diagnose a disease should not make a patient poor, that their treatment becomes unaffordable.” Guided by this principle, we have priced our scans and blood tests 50–60% lower than the market rate, without compromising on quality or accuracy.

    We achieve this through:

    Profit by volume & scale

Serving a large patient base allows us to keep costs low and pass on the benefit directly to patients.

    Efficient use of technology

Automation and digital workflows reduce manual work in reporting, improving speed while cutting costs.

    In-house management

Our leadership operates with in-depth knowledge of local needs, ensuring effective and cost-conscious operations.

    Right-sized infrastructure

We invest wisely in facilities and real estate, avoiding unnecessary overheads.

    Frugal spending

Every rupee is spent with care, prioritizing patient benefit over extravagance.

    Zero-kickback policy

We ensure that our savings is passed directly to the patients instead of intermediaries.

    Carotid Ultrasound Scan

A Carotid Ultrasound examines the blood flow in the neck arteries that supply the brain, helping detect blockages or plaque buildup. The scan lasts 20–25 minutes, and the report is ready within 6 hours. It costs about ₹1,500–₹2,000, and it is a painless, radiation-free diagnostic test.

What is a Carotid Ultrasound scan?

A carotid ultrasound is a non-invasive and painless way of imaging the carotid arteries in the neck. The radiologist scans the arteries that carry blood from the heart to the brain using a transducer. High frequency sound waves are sent by the transducer to these arteries. They bounce off the organ and echo back to the handheld device.

The transducer collects these electronic signals and sends them to a specialized computer. The ultrasound monitors processes those signals and generates real-time visuals. A carotid ultrasound is helpful in the diagnosis of blockages, plaque build-up, and stenosis.

When and why is a Carotid Ultrasound scan done?

A Carotid Ultrasound evaluates the carotid arteries in the neck that supply blood to the brain. It helps detect plaque buildup, narrowing, or blockages that could lead to a stroke. This scan is often recommended for people with high cholesterol, hypertension, or previous stroke symptoms.

What happens before a Carotid Ultrasound scan?

Before your Carotid Ultrasound scan, our technologist will review your medical history, symptoms, and any risk factors for stroke or vascular disease, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or smoking. You may be asked to avoid wearing turtlenecks or collared clothing around the neck area for easier access during the scan. No fasting or special preparation is usually required, though it’s helpful to avoid applying lotions, oils, or powders on your neck before the test, as these can interfere with the ultrasound probe’s contact. Please bring along any previous ultrasound or vascular test reports for comparison and accurate evaluation.

What happens during a Carotid Ultrasound scan?

During the scan, you will be asked to lie comfortably on your back on the examination table, with your neck slightly tilted to one side. A clear, water-based gel will be applied to your neck to allow smooth movement of the ultrasound transducer and improve sound wave transmission. The sonologist will gently move the transducer along both sides of your neck to examine the carotid arteries; the major blood vessels that carry blood from your heart to your brain.

The scan provides real-time images and Doppler flow information, helping assess the blood flow, plaque buildup, narrowing (stenosis), or blockages in the arteries. The entire procedure is non-invasive, safe, and painless, and typically takes about 20–30 minutes to complete.

What happens after a Carotid Ultrasound scan?

After the scan, the gel will be cleaned off, and you can resume your usual activities immediately. There are no side effects or recovery time needed. The images and Doppler data are analyzed by an experienced radiologist or vascular specialist, who prepares a detailed report outlining any blood flow abnormalities or arterial narrowing detected. This report will be shared with your referring physician or cardiologist, who will discuss the results with you and guide any further treatment or preventive steps if needed.

Who shouldn’t get a Carotid Ultrasound scan?

Patients with the following issues in their neck cannot get a carotid ultrasound scan:

    • Heavy calcifications
    • Thick tissues around their neck
    • Injuries or dressings on the neck
    • Unable to lie still due to a medical condition

    Frequently Asked Questions

A Carotid Ultrasound checks for blocked or narrowed arteries that could lead to stroke if they went unchecked for too long. The blockages are due to plaque buildup that can reduce oxygen supply to the brain.

Some warning signs to watch out for are sudden numbness or weakness, inability to speak coherently, blurred vision, loss of balance, and headache.

A carotid ultrasound scan at Aarthi Scans and Labs starts at Rs. 2,500.

The Carotid Artery is located on both sides of your neck, and they supply blood to your brain, face and neck. They start at your upper chest, the base of your neck and travel all the way upwards towards the skull.

The main danger of Carotid Ultrasound is the risk of stroke which can cause disability and life-threatening. Therefore, it is important to get Carotid Ultrasound for early detection of blocked arteries and prevent complications.

Carotid Artery blockage does not fall in the category of normal. There is classification of blockages – mild, moderate and severe. Mild blockages entail less than 50% of the artery and are commonly associated with aging. Blockages are considered moderate if they fall between 50-70% and are at some risk for stroke and should be monitored. Those over 70% are at high risk for stroke and need medical intervention.

During a Carotid Ultrasound, the patient is positioned to lie on their back (supine) and their neck will be extended by 45 degrees to give better access to the area.

A Carotid Ultrasound is generally accurate but there are times when it looks like there is a blockage whereas there isn't one. In such cases, the experience level of the radiologist determines the accuracy of detection.
