It is a brain scan that consists of radio waves and magnetic fields, both of which create high quality detailed images. It scans the brain structures, blood vessels, skull, facial bones, internal ear, inner eye, nerves, soft tissues surrounding the skull, and fat.
An MRI Brain scan is done to evaluate the brain’s structure and blood flow. It helps detect stroke, tumours, multiple sclerosis, infections, migraines, memory loss, and unexplained headaches. Doctors recommend it when patients experience seizures, dizziness, or vision problems, as it provides detailed images without radiation exposure.
Before your MRI brain scan, our team will review your medical history and check for any metal implants, pacemakers, or health conditions that may affect the procedure. You will be asked to remove jewelry, eyeglasses, hearing aids, or any metallic objects, as these can interfere with the magnetic field. In some cases, a contrast dye may be given intravenously to highlight specific brain tissues and blood vessels. Unless instructed otherwise, you can eat and drink normally before the scan.
During the scan, you will lie on a motorized table that slides into the MRI machine, a large, tunnel-like scanner with a strong magnetic field.
