Arthritis profile: What does it cover?

The word Arthritis means joint inflammation. Arthritis is a condition characterized by bone joint inflammation. Arthritis is an extremely common condition, found especially in individuals above the age of 50. Arthritis is treatable and manageable if it is detected early. Common symptoms of arthritis include pain, redness, heat, and swelling in your joints. There are several kinds of arthritis, so it’s important that your doctor diagnoses the kind first to create treatment strategies for the same. The most common types of arthritis include osteoarthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriatic arthritis. There are several factors that play a role in diagnosing arthritis. We offer a package that covers all the factors together to provide a comprehensive and detailed evaluation.

Aarthi Scans and Labs offer an arthritis profile test which covers nine different factors that help in the detection and management of arthritis.

Uric acid: When your body has extra uric acid, sharp crystals can form in your joints (usually your big toe). Testing for uric acid levels in the body can help diagnosing gout. Gout attacks are when flare-ups of symptoms like pain and swelling come and go in periods.

Phosphorus & Calcium: Significant increase in the calcium/phosphorous ratio were found in individuals with rheumatoid arthritis.

Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) The ESR test is specifically used to diagnose and monitor conditions that cause inflammation. The test is a measurement of how quickly red blood cells (RBC) fall; it indicates inflammation. People with reactive rheumatoid arthritis have elevated ESR levels.

ASO (Anti-Streptolysin O): This is done to assess streptococcal-related infections such as reactive arthritis.

Anti-nuclear antibody (ANA): This detects the presence of autoantibodies that destroy the body’s own cells and tissues. This test is useful in autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis.

Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (Anti-CCP): The presence of CCP antibodies in the blood may indicate the likelihood of rheumatoid arthritis. This detects CCP antibodies against citrullinated peptides, which are commonly present in the joints of those with rheumatoid arthritis (RA)

CRP (C-reactive protein): C-reactive protein (CRP) is routinely assessed as a marker of systemic inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis (RA)

RA Factor (Rheumatoid Factor): Rheumatoid factors are antibodies generated by the immune system in response to rheumatoid arthritis.

To conclude, the Arthritis Profile test provides a comprehensive evaluation of all the factors involved in diagnosing, treating and managing any type of arthritis. It allows for finding the specific type of arthritis for targeted treatment and care.
