Why does Aarthi Scans & Labs offer services at low prices?

At Aarthi Scans and Labs, we strongly believe that the cost of diagnosing a disease should never push a patient into financial hardship or make their treatment unaffordable. Unfortunately, the high cost of diagnostic services across the country often leads to delayed diagnoses, unaffordable tests, and limited access to advanced facilities leaving millions vulnerable.

Our vision is simple yet powerful; no one should suffer because a diagnosis is out of reach. To make this a reality, we have consistently kept our pricing 50–60% lower than the industry average, especially for essential services like MRI, CT, and blood tests. We also provide reduced pricing during night hours, further easing access for patients.

Over the last 36 years, it has been the trust of our patients, their word of mouth, and our unwavering commitment to delivering advanced, compassionate diagnostics that have helped us scale and sustain this model. By combining exceptional diagnostic capabilities with affordability, we continue to fight for a healthcare system where early, accurate diagnosis is accessible to all.

How does Aarthi Scans and Labs offer Services at a lower cost?

At Aarthi Scans and Labs, affordability is at the heart of our vision:“The cost to diagnose a disease should not make a patient poor, that their treatment becomes unaffordable.” Guided by this principle, we have priced our scans and blood tests 50–60% lower than the market rate, without compromising on quality or accuracy.

    We achieve this through:

    Profit by volume & scale

Serving a large patient base allows us to keep costs low and pass on the benefit directly to patients.

    Efficient use of technology

Automation and digital workflows reduce manual work in reporting, improving speed while cutting costs.

    In-house management

Our leadership operates with in-depth knowledge of local needs, ensuring effective and cost-conscious operations.

    Right-sized infrastructure

We invest wisely in facilities and real estate, avoiding unnecessary overheads.

    Frugal spending

Every rupee is spent with care, prioritizing patient benefit over extravagance.

    Zero-kickback policy

We ensure that our savings is passed directly to the patients instead of intermediaries.

    DEXA Scan

A DEXA scan (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) is a highly reliable test for measuring bone density and identifying the risk of osteoporosis. The scan is simple, painless, and takes about 10 to 20 minutes to complete. Reports are ready within 6 hours, and the price typically ranges from ₹1,500 to ₹3,000. The procedure uses very low radiation levels, making it safe for repeated monitoring when required.

    What is a DEXA scan?

DEXA stands for dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry. This scan helps to determine the amount of calcium, magnesium, zinc, fluoride, sodium, and potassium present inside the bones. However, it only shows the value of calcium in the scan, the rest is categorized as bone mineral content. All these help to determine the health of the bones.

A DEXA scan is a crucial tool in finding the bone density of a patient who is at risk for osteoporosis. The DEXA scan machine consists of a scanning table, an arm attached to the table, and an x-ray detector. X-rays are emitted from the arm that moves up and down, thereby scanning the whole body of the patient.

When and why is a DEXA scan done?

A DEXA scan measures bone density and helps diagnose osteoporosis or bone loss due to age, menopause, or medical conditions. It’s recommended for postmenopausal women, elderly individuals, and those with fracture risks. This scan evaluates bone strength and helps monitor the effectiveness of treatment for bone-related disorders.

What happens before a DEXA scan?

Before your DEXA scan, our staff will guide you through the preparation process. In most cases, no special preparation is required. However, you may be asked to avoid calcium supplements for at least 24 hours prior to the test. It’s best to wear loose, comfortable clothing without zippers, belts, or metal fastenings, as metal objects can interfere with the scan. If you’ve recently had a contrast X-ray, CT, or nuclear medicine study, inform our team, as you may need to wait a few days before your DEXA scan.

What happens during a DEXA scan?

During the scan, you will lie flat on a padded table while the scanning arm of the DEXA machine passes over your body. The scan is painless and uses a very low dose of X-rays to measure bone density, usually at the hip and spine. You will need to remain still, but you will not feel anything during the process. The procedure is quick, typically taking 10–20 minutes. A technologist will be present throughout to ensure you are comfortable.

What happens after a DEXA scan?

After the scan, you can return to your normal routine immediately. There are no side effects or restrictions following the procedure. Our radiologist will analyze the results and prepare a detailed report, which will be shared with your doctor. The report usually includes your bone density measurements and a comparison with healthy reference ranges. Your doctor will then discuss the findings with you and guide you on whether treatment, lifestyle changes, or follow-up scans are recommended.

Who shouldn't get a DEXA scan?

    • Pregnant individuals
    • Use of contrast and radionuclides recently
    • Patients with severe degenerative changes or deformity
    • Excess obese person
    • Inability to lie still

How much does a DEXA scan cost at Aarthi Scans and Labs?

The cost of a whole-body DEXA scan at Aarthi Scans and Labs is Rs. 3000.

    Frequently Asked Questions

A Dexa scan is used to find out the intensity of a fracture, BMD aka bone mineral density and osteoporosis.

The cost of a Dexa scan at Aarthi Scans and Labs starts from 3000/- rupees and covers the entire body.

Generally Dexa scans like X-rays are safer in comparison to CT scan and PET CT scan. However, the tiny radiation during the scan barely has any side effects. Pregnant women should avoid getting an X-ray as it might affect the fetus.

A Dexa scan does not take more than twenty minutes or even less with prior appointment.

No the Dexa scan is not painful at all. It is non-invasive and quick scan similar to an X-ray.

An X-ray only shows your bones, possible fractures and tear. A Dexa scan shows the BMD or bone mineral density, fracture assessment and identify osteoporosis.

No a Dexa scan cannot directly show a fracture but can show low Bone Mineral Density indicating a possible fracture.
