Before your OPG X-ray, our radiographer will review your dental history and understand the reason for the scan — such as jaw pain, missing teeth, or pre-implant evaluation. You will be asked to remove any metallic items like earrings, necklaces, spectacles, hairpins, or dentures, as metal can interfere with the clarity of the X-ray image.
No special preparation, fasting, or medication restrictions are required for an OPG X-ray. You can eat and drink normally before the procedure. The radiographer will explain the process and help you stand comfortably in the correct position for the scan.
During the OPG X-ray, you will be asked to stand still with your chin resting on a small support and your teeth gently biting on a sterile plastic guide. This ensures your head and jaw remain properly aligned for accurate imaging.
