What is an Chest X-ray?
A Chest X-ray is a type of x-ray diagnostic imaging procedure done to diagnose any heart or lung related ailments, fractures and post operative changes. This x-ray exam uses x-ray radiation to take images of the chest region like heart, lungs, blood vessels and bone of the chest and spine, providing reasons for the cause of the ailments. It is a simple chest x-ray exam and an important diagnostic tool for evaluating conditions such as collapsed lungs, emphysema, pneumonia, broken ribs and cancer or other conditions.
When is a Chest X-ray prescribed?
A Chest X-ray is generally prescribed when the patient complains of chest pain, chest injury or shortness of breath. This x-ray procedure provides a doctor with the reason for the pain in the chest region.
