What is an CT KUB Scan?
Computed Tomography (CT) is an imaging procedure that uses special x-ray equipment to create detailed pictures, or images, of areas inside the body. CT scan of the kidney, ureter, and bladder (KUB) is a diagnostic tool used to assess the organs for any abnormalities. The KUB scan is often used to investigate pain in the abdomen or back, blood in urine, or urinary tract infections. It can also help to identify kidney stones, tumors, or other lesions. The Procedure takes approximately 10-15 minutes and is generally well tolerated by patients. It is important to remain still during the scanning process in order to avoid blurring of the images. Our radiologists will review the images and provide you with a report on the findings.
When and Why is CT KUB Scan Prescribed?
CT KUB scan is prescribed when other non-invasive imaging techniques such as an ultrasound or plain X-ray are not able to provide enough information. CT scans can be used to detect anomalies in the urinary system, such as kidney stones or tumors, and to assess the extent of any damage. The procedure may also be prescribed if there is suspicion of an infection or blockage in the system, or if there is concern of kidney failure.
