When is a Chest X-ray prescribed?

A Chest X-ray is generally prescribed when the patient complains of chest pain, chest injury or shortness of breath. This x-ray procedure provides a doctor with the reason for the pain in the chest region. It is commonly used in detection of lung cancer or accumulation of air or fluid in the lungs, the size and shape of your heart, fractures in the rib or spine. It also reveals other problems like aortic aneurysms, blood vessel problems and congenital heart disease. In addition to using chest x-rays for diagnosis, this x-ray is also used to monitor your recovery after you’ve had surgery in your chest, such as on your heart, lungs or esophagus.
