Purpose of Test
The Mantoux Test is a skin test which is used to test someone for signs of exposure to Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacterium which causes tuberculosis infection. The results of this test must be interpreted carefully.
Test of Result Interpretation
Positive or Negative
The person's medical risk factors determine at which increment (5 mm, 10 mm, or 15 mm) of induration the result is considered positive.
A positive result indicates TB exposure.
